COMPANY BACKGROUNDS

COLLETTE MECHANICAL SERVICES, INC.

Collette Mechanical Services, Inc. provides a wealth of expertise in the area of printing operations including press and plate equipment.

Dennis Collette, President, has been involved in the printing industry for 25 years. He spent many of those years working directly for GOSS on the installation of newspaper presses. These included GOSS Community presses, Urbanites, Metros and Colorliners. He not only worked on the installation of the presses but, also, handled the start-ups at many locations as well as training newspaper personnel as the presses were brought on line.

After leaving GOSS, Dennis worked with an independent contractor that specialized in press cut downs. Some of the sites he managed through completion were The San Francisco Chronicle, The Fresno Bee and The Stockton Record in California. He managed the Daily Southtown in Chicago as well as brought the Chicago Sun Times on line. The presses he worked on were no longer limited to GOSS presses. He has extensive time with TKS, Man-Roland, (offset and flexo) and Mitsubishi.

In 2004, Dennis went into business for himself. A large part of what he did initially was installation and repair work on bending equipment as well as replace and align press lock-ups. He has replaced lock-ups and bending equipment in many locations around the world. Some recent locations include Tampa Tribune, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Reno Gazette and Newark Star Ledger to name a few.

He is now expanding his business to handle all types of press and plate equipment installation, service and repair work. He recently managed the cut down from 50 inches to 44 inches on a Mitsubishi press for The Register Guard in Eugene, Oregon. He did this with the help of Brown’s Machine and Hydraulic.

BROWN’S MACHINE AND HYDRAULIC

Travis Brown, President, has owned and operated a machine and fabrication shop in Eugene, Oregon since 2003. He employs up to 30 people depending on the job size. Brown’s Machine and Hydraulic has full CNC machining and CNC plasma cutting capabilities as well as manual machining capabilities. Travis is very skilled in the use of Auto-Cad to engineer, design and manufacture precision parts.

Prior to teaming with Collette Mechanical Services, Travis has developed his extensive machinist skills during the past 25 years working at or with large paper, lumber and pulp mills in the Pacific Northwest. These are all 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operations that require his ability to respond rapidly with great precision. These are also traits required in the newspaper industry.

Since teaming up with Collette Mechanical services, Travis has designed and built a mobile machine shop (Brown’s Mobile Machining). This is a fully equipped shop that can be moved to any location in the country.

With over 50 years of combined hands on work, Collette Mechanical and Brown’s Machine and Hydraulic can take your project all the way from engineering to the finished job all at your location.
